Dear Princess,

Dear Kayleigh,

How is it possible that you are two years old now? It seems just like this morning I was holding after you made your less than three-minute labor into the world. It’s probably weird to hear this but did you know I was dreaming about you three years before you were even born? I couldn’t see your mama’s face in my dreams but God had her eyes and other young women like her burning a hole into my heart years before I got to meet you.

I often think about the battle that went on before you born. I think about the perfect match God made between you and your quiet warrior of a mother. I try to imagine what your life will look like twenty years from now just because of the choices your mother is making now. I feel for you when you start to get off track. Miss Kayleigh Layla, your mama isn’t going to let you off easy so I am praying now that you just accept your licks and get your train right young lady. 🙂

Kayleigh my birthday wish for you today is that it is sealed upon your heart, mind, and soul how cherished you are. I think most of us girls get off track when we forget who we are and whose we are. I want you to never remember a time you couldn’t hear God’s voice gently whispering to you that you are loved. I wish you a heart full of forgiveness, grace, and peace for yourself and others. I wish you a brilliant sense of humor, a desire to find joy in every dark space, an unbreakable spirit, and tight loyalty to your family.

Princess Kayleigh, you were meant for greatness. Already you are set on a path to change your corner of the world for good. It may seem a lot to set on the shoulders of a two-year-old but I have looked into those old soul eyes and my weird sense of intuition tells me you already know it as well.

Love,
Me

But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it,
and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
2 Timothy 3:14-15

It's good talking with you.
